Roydon Art Exhibition 2024

MasterClass

© Roydon Art Exhibition 2010 - 2024

For 2024 we are pleased to announce that we will again be holding four 30-45 minute MasterClasses hosted by top professional artists. Each artist will provide an insight into their work describing and demonstrating the materials they use, their techniques and maybe even their inspiration. This is a very exciting addition to the exhibition and we would like to extend our thanks to our artists for agreeing to provide what is certain to be four very interesting MasterClasses. We expect these to be very popular so we may need to limit numbers.

Remember, these classes are free.

Deana is a professional commission artist and art tutor, working from  Berkshire to Essex, and offering online art sessions and retreats in both the UK and Venice.

"I love to paint portraits & silver birch trees combining texture pastes, metallic leaf with my favourite medium, acrylics which will be the subject of my Masterclass.

I had two large canvasses with me and demonstrated and discussed ‘metallic leaf’ application, ‘texture paste’ application and painting both woodlands or portraits."

In addition to the MasterClass, Deana gave help and advice to those wishing to take up art.

Glynnis has lived in Roydon for many years and teaches Mixed Media at Courtyard Arts in Hertford and Life Drawing at Gravelly Barn in Braughing.

"I regularly experience the benefits of attending an art group both socially and keeping one’s mind active which is particularly important as we get older.

I like to work in various mediums such as acrylic, watercolour, printmaking and drawing with my sewing machine.  I am a mark maker and love to explore different methods.

I showed how I completed my stitched work by using my sewing machine. I sometimes add other fabrics, paint and ink too to create my work."

In addition to the MasterClass, Gynnis gave help and advice to those wishing to take up art.

Emma lives and works in Roydon using hand building techniques to make all manner of decorative flora and fauna such as frost-proof stoneware that’s ideal for garden.

“The natural world is a constant source of wonder and inspiration to me.  I have found that a lot of planning ahead can result in a stiff interpretation of a subject. So, when starting something new, I work out the structure and then add textures and details as I go which allows for more creativity.

Each piece represents hours of making and some pieces are fired up to 4 times to achieve the layers of glaze. The field of ceramics is vast and after four years I feel I’ve only just begun.”

In addition to the MasterClass, Emma gave ahelp nd advice to those wishing to take up art.

Maggie has been exhibiting at the Roydon Art Exhibition for several years and is a very popular artist.

"It’s fun to try new techniques which makes for an interesting adventure. Recently I’ve been experimenting with watercolour on a plastic surface called Yupo paper, and Brusho, a powered water based paint which gives totally loose and exciting results.

I demonstrated these techniques at the Roydon Art Show MasterClass and several visitors dropped by to find out more about it."

In addition to the MasterClass, Lyn gave help and advice to those wishing to take up art.

Maggie Gibbs

As an amateur artist I paint in watercolour and acrylics, and now I am

experimenting with a water based powder called Brusho.

I like the fluidity of the colours combined with the unexpected results, you

never know what the outcome will be !

I will be demonstrating different ways of using this medium on both

watercolour paper and a plastic surface called Yupo.

I have been exhibiting at Roydon Art Show for a number of years and enjoy

the experience immensely.

Glynnis Bainbridge

The therapeutic part art plays in one’s life is amazing and important both for oneself and others.

I teach Mixed Media at Courtyard arts in Hertford and Life Drawing at Gravelly Barn in Braughing. I regularly experience the benefits of attending an art group both socially and keeping one’s mind active which is particularly important as we get older. I am also delivering workshops with a friend at Living Crafts at Hatfield House later this week.

I like to work in various mediums such as acrylic, watercolour, printmaking and drawing with my sewing machine.  I am a mark maker and love to explore different methods.

I shall be showing you how I complete my stitched work by using my sewing machine. I sometimes add other fabrics, paint and ink too to create my work. There will be several examples for you to see.

Chloe Boyce

I am an artist and teacher based in Essex. Teaching in further education I work with teenagers and adults from the local community. I have coordinated art projects within schools, with local businesses and charities which has given me an interest in a variety of different art and styles. When making my own work, I enjoy layering pattern, colours and imagery using collage, textiles and printmaking. I gain inspiration from being outside and am often out thinking of ideas whilst walking or running in the elements.

My masterclass will be based on paper collage and how to effectively create a balanced composition with a few tips and tricks.
