Roydon Art Exhibition 2024

Artists' Pages

We now accept Greetings Cards and Postcards of artists' work.

Ready to hang pictures only please

We don’t mind what sort of frame or mount you use, (traditional, box, block, etc), or indeed if you don’t use a frame on your works, but we no longer accept pictures that cannot be hung.

Submitting artwork

All works and Entry Forms should be handed in at Roydon Village Hall between 1:30pm and 6:30pm on Friday 3rd May 2024. No work can be accepted after this time.

All works should have one label stuck to the back of the work. The label should have: name, title of work and price in BLOCK LETTERS.

All works must be ready to hang. Framed work should have ‘D’ Hooks and string/wire attached, plastic frames in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.

There will be a hanging fee of £2.00 per work. 20% commission will be deducted from all works sold – commission in aid of Roydon Village Hall.

Every effort will be made to hang all of the works, but it should be noted that works are accepted on the understanding that work may be declined. The organisors' decision is final.

Please do not offer work that is not for sale. This event is to raise funds for the local community and not just an opportunity to advertise. Work that is not for sale will be declined, and that also applies to work which has clearly been priced not to sell. Click here for pricing help and suggestions.

Use 'D' Hooks, not eyelets

Collecting your pictures

All unsold works must be collected between 7:00pm and 8:00pm on the last day of the exhibition (Monday 6th May). No works will be returned before this time so please do not come earlier and ask for your pictures to be returned. We must do it in a safe and systematic way to ensure all pieces are correctly returned to artists undamaged.

Payment

Artists who sell one or more of their pictures will receive a cheque or BACs transfer within a couple of weeks of the exhibition. If you wish to receive online payment please ensure we have your correct bank details.

Drop in for complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits when you deliver and collect your pictures.

Artists - please let us know if you are willing to be available to answer questions about your work. You'll get a badge so visitors will know who you are and you'll get 50% off the admission fee on the Preview Evening and/or Free Admission on Sunday and Monday.

Please let us know at hand-in (Friday) if you intend being available.

NOTE THE REVISED HANDING IN TIMES

Postcards and Greetings Cards

Last year we trialled Greetings cards and Postcards of Artists’ pictures for sale. This was very successful and so we are refining it for 2024. We have invested in display stands which will be placed at various locations around the exhibition.

We have considered the logistics of this and have set out some terms and conditions to make the whole enterprise work as smoothly as possible, fitting in with the systems we already have in place. Please read the following carefully.

Artists may submit a maximum of 30 cards (ideally in multiples of 10). They can be different sizes and we will, space permitting, separate them into individual shelves on the display unit(s).

If greetings cards are being offered with an envelope, both card and envelope must be in a clear sleeve.

All cards must clearly show the artist’s name, printed on the back (not just a partly legible signature on the picture itself).

All cards must carry a price sticker on the top right of each card. Low-tack dot stickers are available from most stationers.

Artists will be charged a handling fee of £1:00 per 10 cards.

There will be a 10% commission on cards sold.

You must complete the Card Entry form. (Click here)

Hand your cards in on Friday to Geoff Preston or Ian Grieg only who will record them, take the entry fee and give you a receipt.

When you return on Monday evening, hand your receipt at the Buyers' Desk where you will receive your unsold cards. You will receive payment as per picture sales.

Payments

If you complete your bank details on the Entry Form you will be paid by bank transfer, otherwise you will receive a cheque.
